Dec. 4 event lets canine companions get “spiffy” for the Holidays

The Animal Health Technology Club students at Kirkwood Community College will once again hold a dog-washing event on Dec. 4. Area pet owners can bring their dogs to the college’s Animal Health building on the south side of the Cedar Rapids Campus and get a bath and other pampering.

Animal Health Professor Anne Duffy says the events are popular offerings for area dog lovers. “Our students are raising funds for a spring trip to the Minneapolis Zoo. Besides, don’t you want your best friend to be all spiffy for the upcoming holiday season? The event is open to all pets with current vaccinations,” Duffy said.

The dog wash is Friday, Dec. 4 from 3-6 p.m. at the Animal Health Technology Building. No appointment is necessary. Most dogs will take about one hour for bath, brush-out, nail trim and blow dry. Owners must provide a current certificate of vaccination for rabies and distemper for each dog. The cost for most dogs is between $10-20 depending on the size of the dog and length of coat. Any matting in the coat will merit an extra fee.
