Fire School Brings Midwest First Responders to Kirkwood

CITA-Kirkwood Fire School

Kirkwood will host the 27th Annual Fire School in collaboration with the Central Iowa Training Association (CITA) on September 28 – 29, 2013, on main campus. More than 700 volunteer and paid firefighters, as well as emergency medical service providers from the Midwest are registered to attend. First Responders will learn the latest techniques in Basic and Advanced Firefighting, Combine, Auger, Tractor and Vehicle Extrication, Big Rig Rescue, Electric Vehicle Safety, Fire Pump Operations, Grain Bin Rescue, Ventilation Practices and Vehicle Fire Techniques.

The CITA-Kirkwood Fire School is one of the largest in the state. In addition to training, demonstrations will take place, involving dozens of fire, ambulance and other emergency vehicles stationed at Johnson Hall on Kirkwood’s main campus. Interviewing opportunities will be available for Fire School authorities from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday.
