Iowa County Presentation to Area Residents

WILLIAMSBURG, Iowa (April 15, 2026)–Kirkwood Community College will host its next Iowa County Leadership Council meeting on Thursday, April 30, at 2 p.m. at the Kirkwood Iowa County Center in Williamsburg. Kirkwood Trustee Alan Jensen, Kirkwood President Kristie Fisher, college administrators and staff, and local community leaders are all expected to be in attendance.

The meeting will feature college-wide updates as well as the latest Kirkwood developments in Iowa County. Attendees will also hear a presentation from Kirkwood’s Continuing Education and Training Services division highlighting results from the Skills 2027 survey. The survey gathered input from businesses across Kirkwood’s seven-county service area to better understand workforce needs from 2025 through 2027, including credential requirements, industry-specific talent demands, and strategies to support regional workforce development and career pathways.

Additionally, a panel discussion will include perspectives from a handful of Iowa County residents including:

  • Fletcher Maser – Kirkwood alum and owner of Cat-Eye Construction in North English
  • Lauren Conrad – Kirkwood alum and employee of Axis Vision Care in Williamsburg
  • Ashlyn Fuhrman – A current College Credit in High School student from Iowa County
  • Nikki Rubino – With Kinze Manufacturing Inc. in Williamsburg
  • Corienne Dally – With Bear Creek Design Studio in Marengo

“These conversations are an important way for us to stay engaged with the communities we serve,” said Kirkwood Iowa County Center Associate Director Michael Jacobsen. “We hope people will come, listen, ask questions and share what they’re experiencing locally. Bringing residents and employers together like this helps us better understand community needs, which directly influences how we design our programs. That input ensures we’re helping prepare students and workers for the kinds of opportunities that exist here in Iowa County.”

The Iowa County Leadership Council meets twice a year, once in the fall and once in the spring. The public is encouraged to attend and participate in the discussion. Community members will have the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback on local educational needs and workforce challenges.
