Elaine Harrington

Her leadership and vision for Kirkwood Community College made Elaine Harrington one of the Corridor Business Journal’s 2013 Women of Influence. The area business publication honored her and nine other local women in a ceremony on March 7 at the Coralville Marriott.

Harrington has been a Kirkwood trustee for 10 years. She represents district 6, which covers Benton County. She is the only Women of Influence honoree who grew up in the Corridor, in Vinton.

“Whether she’s sitting on her tractor or in the Kirkwood board room, Elaine is the epitome of a woman of influence,” said Kirkwood Board President Lois Bartelme, a 2010 CBJ Woman of Influence. “Elaine is a vital member of our board. She brings an agricultural prospective to our meetings, which is so important at Kirkwood.

“She bring the rural viewpoint and prospective from Benton County. Elaine serves her population there very well and she’s well aware of the issues for educating young people and those returning to school,” said Bartelme. “She’s more than deserving of this honor and a great member of our Kirkwood board.”
