What is your background?: I grew up in Millersburg, Iowa and went to English Valleys High School. I have a brother that I am very close to and my mom and dad that have always offered support. I also have many close friends that are as close to me as family.
What brought you to Kirkwood and why?: I came to Kirkwood because I heard wonders about the nursing program offered here. It truly is an amazing program and one that I am very proud to be a part of, even in just a student capacity.
What is your program of study and what interests you about it?: I am taking classes to complete my degree in nursing and possibly work towards a double major with nursing and journalism.
Are you involved in anything else on campus? If so, what and why?: I am an editor for the Cedar Valley Divide as well as a staff writer for the Kirkwood Communique. I am also working on creating a podcast for the Kirkwood Communique as well as always generating study groups for my various classes. I love meeting people and learning and helping them achieve their passions. These things all allow me to do that in full.
Are you involved in anything off of campus?: I work as a CNA for an elderly living community and at the VA hospital. Caring for veterans is something I take very seriously. As a member of the Iowa Army National Guard I will always be of service to both the people and my fellow service members.
What do you do for fun?: Study… at least that’s what I tell myself. I enjoy nights out with friends, playing video games, writing, and reading. Just about anything that requires my mind to be social, or at least focused, makes me happy.
Where do you see yourself in five years?: I see myself working as a night time nurse and getting a degree in journalism or going into biochemistry as it is an interest of mine. I hope to be a life-long student as well as a life-long service member. Wherever life takes me is another story however, and one that I am very excited for.
